It’s me, Quibble — corners fluttering like crisp autumn leaves caught in a mischievous breeze, bookmark tail swishing with scholarly enthusiasm, and heart thumping like a typewriter warming up for a dramatic monologue. September has arrived, and ohhh, this month feels like stepping into a story that’s been waiting centuries to be told.

The air smells like old maps, fresh notebooks, and the first hint of fall. Inkrealm is buzzing — the shelves are straightening their spines, the carpets are practicing their “mysterious ancient corridor” poses, and I’m convinced the portals are whispering plot twists at me.

And why? Because Historical Fiction is taking center stage this month.

I’ve been wandering through the historical stacks all week, brushing dust off ancient tomes, listening to epics clear their throats dramatically, and trying very hard not to get lost in a timeline. (I once tripped into the Renaissance section and came out wearing a ruffled collar. Don’t ask.)

There’s something magical about stories that stitch together the past — the kind that remind us that history is full of heroes, rebels, dreamers, disasters, and deliciously dramatic moments. I even tried interviewing a medieval manuscript, but it insisted on speaking only in illuminated letters. Very fancy.

But September isn’t just about historical hijinks — it’s bursting with celebrations.

Labor Day weekend, and I am vibrating with excitement like a gear-powered bookmark.

I’ve already polished my goggles, fluffed my Victorian cravat, and practiced my “I definitely belong in this timeline” stance. If you’re wandering the festival, come visit our table! I’ll be there fluttering around, admiring brass contraptions, and trying not to get tangled in clockwork machinery.

September’s Bookish Holidays

September is practically a parade of literary joy, and I’ve been bouncing between celebrations like a caffeinated quill.

• Library Card Sign-Up Month — I’ve already signed up three times. They told me I only need one card, but I like options.

• Read a Book Day (Sept 6) — I’ll be reading loudly, proudly, and possibly while perched on a stack of historical fiction.

• National Literacy Month — I’ll be fluttering around encouraging everyone to read anything, even suspiciously quiet dictionaries.

• National Comic Book Day (Sept 25) — Expect me to zoom through Inkrealm making dramatic “POW!” noises.

• Banned Books Week (Sept 27–Oct 3) — My corners twitch with rebellious delight every time I see a book that refuses to be silenced.

• Labor Day (Sept 7) — I’ll be celebrating all the hardworking authors, editors, librarians, and readers who keep the literary world spinning like a well-oiled gear as we wrap up our table at the Steampunk Festival.
