Quibble’s June Jaunt

Festival Lights and Nonfiction Adventures

Hello again, dear readers!

It’s me, Quibble — corners fluttering like festival flags, bookmark tail swishing with purpose, and heart thumping like a drumline warming up backstage. June has arrived, and ohhh, this month feels like stepping into a spotlight made of sunshine and possibility. Everything is buzzing — the books, the shelves, the carpets, even my punctuation marks are vibrating with anticipation.

And why wouldn’t they be?

June at Indies United means one thing: NonFiction is getting its genre spotlight and we’re celebrating Truth Told Boldly.

I’ve been tiptoeing through the nonfiction stacks all week, listening to memoirs whisper secrets, history books clear their throats dramatically, and self‑help titles offer unsolicited advice. There’s something magical about true stories — the kind that remind you the world is stranger, braver, funnier, and more astonishing than anything we could make up. I even tried interviewing a biography, but it insisted on telling its story chronologically. Very professional.

But before I get lost in the land of facts, footnotes, and bold truths… there’s something even bigger happening.

Inklight 2026 begins THIS THURSDAY!

I’ve been racing around with my quill, checking lists, fluffing festival banners, and trying very hard not to trip over my own excitement. If you see confetti around me, it’s not a party — it’s just what happens when my corners get over‑enthusiastic. Three days of stories, authors, readers, panels, mugs clinking, and festival magic? My pages can barely handle it.

Inkrealm is practically glowing this month. The portals are humming like they’ve had too much coffee. The shelves are practicing their dramatic poses. A new book release area has been opened in the Beachworld Pavilion. Even the glitches are sparkling with extra enthusiasm — which is both charming and mildly concerning.

June, of course, arrives with its own bouquet of bookish celebrations, each one popping up like confetti in my calendar. It’s Audiobook Appreciation Month, which means I’ve been wandering around being dramatically narrated at every turn — some voices are so theatrical I nearly bowed. National Pen Pal Day (June 1st) had me writing six letters, though only two were to actual humans; the rest were to particularly inspiring paperclips. Then comes National Best Friends Day on June 8th, when I’ll be hugging my favorite bookmarks and hoping they don’t crinkle under the pressure. Later, National Typewriter Day (June 23rd) fills the air with the nostalgic clack‑clack‑ding of creativity warming up, and National Camera Day (June 29th) reminds me to smile… or at least attempt not to blink mid‑flash, which is harder than it sounds when your corners flutter.

It’s been a whirlwind of nonfiction adventures, festival prep, and me trying to look composed while sprinting through all the activity with a clipboard.

So here we are: a month of truth, celebration, festival sparkle, and stories that refuse to stay quiet. Whether you’re diving into a memoir, exploring a new idea, or joining us at Inklight for three glorious days of literary joy, June invites you to step boldly into the light and let your story shine.

With ink‑stained affection,

Quibble
