Today we’re delighted to welcome a new voice to the Indies United family — L. P. Arnold, an author whose work carries the unmistakable weight of lived experience, deep roots, and the kind of storytelling that feels like coming home.
Arnold’s journey has taken him from the beautiful Missouri Ozarks to the small town charm of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and onward through a life of service, grit, and community. A former federal law enforcement officer, business owner, and Texas rancher, he’s lived the kind of life most novels would envy, full of hard work, wide skies, and stories waiting quietly in the corners.
A U.S. Army veteran and University of Tulsa graduate, Arnold has spent more than forty years building a life with his wife, Vicki, raising three sons and celebrating six grandchildren. Most of whom live close enough to keep the house lively, loud, and full of love. Those experiences, those landscapes, and those relationships form the backbone of his writing.
Arnold’s novels explore the instinctive pull of home, the way people return to the landscapes, memories, and loves that shaped them. His characters walk roads familiar to anyone who has ever felt nostalgia tug at their sleeve: small towns, quiet creeks, family histories, and the bittersweet truths of everyday life.
His work stirs forgotten feelings — the kind readers recognize instantly because they’ve lived them too.
