Fortress:

1. A well-protected place, which is intended to be difficult for enemies to enter

2. A place of refuge or support

3. A person or thing not susceptible to outside influence or disturbance

Each author in this anthology was given a single word ‘fortress’ and asked to write a story around it. Take it in any direction you want, but run with it. And run they did. This diverse group of award winning authors varies as much as their exploration of the word given to them. From the whimsical to the macabre, provocative to melancholy, we proudly present our fourth collection. So, curl up in your favorite chair and enjoy an evening of literary wine-tasting, and savor a sampling of tales from our publishing house. Contributing Authors: Timothy Baldiwn – Cory Clark – Michael Deeze – Marie Judson - D. Krauss – Ana Manwaring – Lisa Orban – Lisa Towles Foreword by Lisa Orban

The Quibble Quencher

A signature drink for Indies United Publishing House

Ingredients (Mocktail Version)

  • 3 oz blueberry basil syrup (rich and aromatic without the floral risk)

  • 2 oz sparkling lemonade (for fizz and brightness)

  • 1 oz butterfly pea flower tea (for that signature indigo hue)

  • Edible gold glitter or gold sugar rim (for visual drama)

  • Fresh basil leaf or a tiny edible quill garnish

Optional Cocktail Twist

  • Add 1 oz elderflower liqueur or botanical gin (if desired and safe)

Assembly

  1. Rim a clear glass with gold sugar.

  2. Pour blueberry basil syrup over ice.

  3. Add sparkling lemonade slowly.

  4. Gently layer butterfly pea tea for a color gradient.

  5. Garnish with basil or a tiny edible quill.

  6. Stir gently to watch the colors swirl—like ideas coming to life.
