Fernando León Torrens
Thrillers
*** Fernando León Torrens loves nature and animals, especially dogs, and has dedicated much of his life to solving the serious problem of street dogs in Mexico. He developed an inexpensive and painless sterilization technique, as well as a plan to treat males and then release them back to their place of capture for just a few pesos. Unfortunately, government corruption has thwarted all attempts to implement the system, undermining the public health benefits, even as rabies reaches epidemic proportions. Fernando has published an investigative narrative essay, Improving Public Health, which tells the story of money, power, and greed in the canine world. His most recent project, a novel written with Ana Manwaring, depicts how easily federal and state legal authorities in Mexico can be corrupted, even in a homicide investigation. A novel about the legal battle to avenge a murder, Mortal Revenge, is based on a true story.
