Jayne Southern
The Bookaholic Editor
Over one million words exist in the Oxford English Dictionary. Of these, some 200,000 are used by English speakers, with 20,000 most commonly used. Nowadays, a vocabulary of 10,000 words is closer to the average. It can be no surprise then that I stand in awe of authors: their ability to take a cluster of words, coax, tease and massage them to create their novels is magic. Moreover, it is pure alchemy.

My aim is to ensure the author's vision is enhanced with any method to hand (including nagging) for flow, structure, readability, and to iron out oopsies.
I love editing and I will do everything possible to help you to make it the best it can be. Books enrich readers and open doors. They change lives, alter perceptions, entertain, inform, break down barriers, illuminate and transport the reader to new worlds.

My experience includes journalism (trade journals, company journals and ghosting articles for in-house magazines), PR, editing and proofreading for indie authors and traditional publishers, in a variety of genres which include fiction, travel, wildlife, health, biographies, other non-fiction, and theses. A selection of books is shown on the portfolio page on my website.

My rates are reasonable - I have no desire to fleece anyone and I offer a comprehensive and conscientious service – I prefer to offer a fixed rate for a complete edit with no hidden extras.
